One of the most useful methods for thinking about and planning effectively for the future is through the use of scenarios. Scenarios are a powerful business tool because they describe a range of possible future environments, compelling decision-makers to begin the planning process by considering what could be, rather than what has been. We work collaboratively with clients to create scenarios that explore the interrelationships of new technologies, markets, channels and conditions.
Scenarios aren't just about telling stories. Although the hallmark of a good scenario is one which describes the future in an engaging way, we staunchly believe that scenarios must be based on recognizable trends and driving forces. The scenarios we develop for our clients are based on future fact, not future fiction.
GFA consultants have led a variety of scenario projects, from one and two-day workshops, to months-long engagements. Our work has been used to frame strategic planning processes, to evaluate the feasibility of new products and to provide a common language for executives to consider alternative business plans. |
